Ballinvreena Crossroad Dancing
A crossroads dance is a traditional form of social dancing that often takes place at rural crossroads in Ireland. These lively gatherings involve music, dancing, and community interaction. Crossroads dances have a rich history in Irish culture. They were especially popular during the 19th and early 20th centuries. These dances were held outdoors, typically at the intersection of two roads, where people from nearby villages would gather to socialize, celebrate, and enjoy music and dance.
Crossroads dancing is making a return to Ballinvreena, nestled in County Limerick's countryside between Kilfinane and Garryspillane, in the Ballyhoura region. At the heart of the community stands Davy's Cottage which first appeared in the Ordnance Survey maps of 1841 and today stands as the focal point of the community. Come and enjoy a very enjoyable night!
