“Where Ireland Meets Puglia”

Giuseppe Giordano kilamllock tour

During the lockdown in Ireland, due to the measures of the Irish Government to prevent the spread of Covid 19, we could not travel and leave our homes and locality. At this time project organiser and Ballyhoura Tour Guide, Giuseppe Giordano was thinking about how they could bring Ireland and their home region Puglia in Italy, to people's homes.

With that in mind, together with an Italian colleague, Vincenzo di Modugno, they created a programme called “Where Ireland Meets Puglia”. In the ten episodes made, they talked about famous Irish characters, history, architecture, legends and art with connections between Ireland and Puglia in Italy. The programme was broadcasted during the month of May every Thursday and Sunday on YouTube and Facebook.

Following these videos, Giuseppe created a video to promote Kilmallock Medieval town, and for National Heritage Week 2020 you can join in on a walking tour of Kilmallock in Co. Limerick, from Saturday the 15th of August to Sunday the 23rd of August.

The tour of Kilmallock will start from the car park near the 15th century King’s Castle.

You will cross the road to commemorate the three men who died during the Fenian Uprising, from there you will continue to the Abbey, the Collegiate Church, the courthouse and back to the car park.

To book and reserve a space for your guided tour call or email Giuseppe.

Languages available are Italian, English, French and Spanish.
