Ballyneety Outdoor Farmers Market was a success.
It was with much fanfare that the Ballyneety Innovation Hub and Astroturf pitch officially opened in October 2019 on the grounds of the Ballyneety Golf Club. When Covid-19 restrictions came into place the Ballyneety Innovation Hub committee discussed ways of bringing the local community together in a safe manner while stimulating the local economy. This resulted in the setting up of the Ballyneety Outdoor Farmers Market.
The response to this initiative was incredible, with lots of stallholders already in business from home. It was a delight to be able to provide a platform to showcase their products. As per level 3 government guidelines, outdoor markets are considered essential services, meaning that the Ballyneety Outdoor Farmers Market went ahead on Sunday 18th October.
It was an astounding success and patrons came in droves, the vendors had no way of predicting the demand, they will double up on their produce for the next market. Lots of positive feedback was received, comments such as ‘great community spirit’, ‘it was a lovely occasion and a great buzz about the place’, ‘it was so enjoyable and a brilliant way for the community to get together’ and ‘well done to the committee and volunteers who made it run so safely and smoothly’.
The second market will be held on the 15th November followed by a Christmas Market on 20th December. We would like to reassure the public of our strict adherence to Covid-19 regulations.
We would encourage everyone in these difficult times to come and support our local small producers. Contact [email protected] for more information.
