The Donkey Sanctuary
The Donkey Sanctuary Ireland was founded in 1987 and since then, we have loved and cared for thousands of neglected and abandoned donkeys from across Ireland. Today we have over 1,800 donkeys and mules in our care. Over 650 of these donkeys reside in private Guardian Homes throughout the country as part of our rehoming scheme and the remainder of the donkeys are based at our four farms in the Liscarroll area.
Visitors are welcome to visit our donkeys at our Open Farm in Knockardbane. The farm is nestled in the beautiful hillsides, outside Liscarroll village. Take a stroll along our beautiful walkways, enjoy a picnic in our secure picnic area or buy a snack at our Visitor Information Centre.
Admission and parking are both free. We consider that being a charity dependent on the support of the public, visitors should be able to see our work free of charge but donations are very welcome.
Opening hours:
Monday to Friday from 9:00 am-4:30 pm. Saturday, Sunday and bank holidays from 10:00 am-5:00 pm.
