Lough Gur Pottery
Clair of Lough Gur Pottery has lived beside Lough Gur in the Midwest of Ireland for over 20 years. Lough Gur is a unique place in the Irish cultural and historical landscape – it has been inhabited for over 6000 years, and the lake and its surrounds have revealed many archaeological treasures, including numerous pieces of pottery.
Clair is intrigued by the time-honoured ceremonies that these ancient pots were a part of, and their carved surfaces inspire her techniques and surface patterns. She combines ancient methods with modern approaches; However, the core essence is always the same – embellish your everyday. Clair hopes that her handcrafted pottery will play a part in your everyday ceremonies – that warm mug of rich coffee first thing in the morning, to that lovingly arranged vase of freshly cut flowers.
