Saint George's Arts and Heritage Centre Events
Saint George’s Arts and Heritage Centre is located in the former Church of Ireland parish church in Mitchelstown and it was deconsecrated in August 2017.
The centre is a focal point for historical, genealogical, cultural and heritage events and it is also a unique venue for theatrical, dramatic and musical activities including Irish song music and dance.
Not for Sensitive Souls is a Fine Art Photography Exhibition

The Exhibition will feature some of Bill Power's portraiture and fine art images, including award-winners. Bill is well known as an historian and for his involvement in Saint George’s. But his reputation as an award-winning photographer is not as well appreciated locally, despite him having won hundreds of awards in over 35 countries. He has also judged international competitions in several countries including France, Bulgaria, Denmark, Spain, England, Scotland and India.

The Beatlebums

The Beatlebums are a live tribute to the music of The Beatles. Five of Cork’s finest musicians are bringing the magic music of The Beatles to life in sold-out venues across the country. The band covers tunes from all eras of The Beatles’ career, from the early jangle pop hits, through to the middle psychedelic sounds, to the latter-day anthems. A night not to be missed!

Hank Wedel

Hank Wedel joins us for Culture Night to celebrate the release of a brand-new album entitled "What Happens in Cork", a collection of ten songs featuring Hank, Declan and a host of special guests recorded in recent years in the hills of Bandon.
Please note, this is a Free event in conjunction with Culture Night but seats need to be reserved. A ticket is required to gain entry to Saint George's.

Emer Barry in Concert
Event Date: Saturday, October 12th 2024
Time and Location: From 8.pm at St Georges Arts and Heritage Mitchelstown, Co. Cork
Emer Barry is a soprano with a Masters in Opera Performance and a year of study with English National Opera. She has performed as a guest soloist with both the RTE Concert Orchestra and the National Symphony Orchestra.
Ireland is particularly well known for its storytelling tradition so the concert will give a special nod to Irish composers from Percy French to Brendan Graham. These stories take the listener on a journey that explores the length and breadth of human emotion and will feature music from movies such as Schindlers List and Breakfast at Tiffany’s as well as operatic favourites such as the Habanera from Carmen and Puccini's O Mio Babbino Caro.
Emer Barry will be joined on the night by Mary McCague on violin and Teresa O'Donnell on Harp.

Remembering Ronnie Drew with Phelim Drew

Ronnie Drew was a founding member of The Dubliners. Join his son Phelim as he tells a few yarns and sings some of the songs made famous by Ronnie, Luke, Barney, Ciaran and John. The night is made up of a mixture of folk and other forms of music that helped to make Ronnie and the lads so unique and the hope is to take the audience on a journey that they will enjoy in sharing these experiences in songs and stories.
