Social Conversations – Topics that Matter

Friars Gate Theatre – 5th March from 19:00 to 20:00

TY students from Kilmallock’s Coláiste Iósaef and a group of older people from the area will get together on stage for a chat about topics that matter to them. Come along and hear what they have to say about issues like religion, technology, sexuality, and much more. Led by Sheila Quealey. Supported by Ballyhoura Development C.L.G. All welcome.

Sweet about Me by Jacinta Sheerin

Friar’s Gate Theatre, 15th March from 20:00 to 21:00

Sweet About Me is a one woman show about addiction. Set in a treatment centre and based on the lives of five characters, Sweet About Me explores alcohol, heroin and cocaine addiction through the eyes of the central character – 18 year old Bernadette Fagan who has an eating disorder, a controlling mother and a body image to die for.

Irelands Call by John Connors

Follow the lives and family histories of three young men as they grow up in Coolock on Dublin’s northside. What shapes them and entices them to a life of crime? Examining issues of class, religion and identity, this new play is an unflinching exploration of the Irish psyche, bringing our collective guilts, secrets and flaws to the surface. Tickets €15/€12

Film – The Camino Voyage

Friar’s Gate Theatre, 27th March from 20:00 to 21:30

A crew including a Writer, two Musicians, an Artist and a Stonemason embark on the Camino by sea, in a traditional boat that they built themselves on an inspiring, and dangerous, 2,500 km modern day Celtic odyssey all the way from Ireland to Northern Spain. Joyously adventurous and profoundly ennobled by their arduous task, this eclectic crew and traditonal boat, called a ‘Naomhóg’, shared a remarkable journey.
