LOOP WALK EDUCATION PROGRAM AND INCLUSIVE CYCLE SAFETY PROGRAM
Ballyhoura will facilitate both programs in various Limerick communities commencing mid-January. The ‘Loop Walk Education Program’ and ‘Inclusive Cycle Safety’ are part of the Government lead initiative, Healthy Ireland.
The ‘Loop Walk Education Program’ links local communities to local town loop walks, local Sli na Slainte walks as well as linking communities into ‘National Way Marked Trails’. Initial walks will commence after the launch of the national campaign ‘Operation Transformation’ 5 km Walk/run on Saturday January 13th.
The ‘Loop walk Education program’ will commence in the following rural Limerick communities in January:
Killmallock – Mondays 9.30 –Meeting at Coote Hall
Hospital – Tuesdays 9.30 Meeting at FRC
Bruff, Grange, Meanus – Wednesday 9.30 – meeting point tbc
Knocklong, Elton 9.30 Thursdays – Community Centre
Cappamore – 9.30 – meeting point tbc

OPERATION TRANSFORMATION 5KM WALK/RUN – DONERAILE PARK SATURDAY 13TH JANURARY
Ballyhoura Development CLG in partnership with Cork Sports Partnership will host a 5km walk/run in Doneraile Park as part of the national Operation Transformation campaign Saturday 13th of January. BALLYHOURA LOOP WALKS – JANUARY’S TOP FOUR FUN WALKS
GALTYWOOD/KINGS YARD – KILBEHENNY 4KM
Attychraan Loop – 5km easy with some moderate sections. Family friendly (older children). Not buggy friendly. Way marked trail, forest roads and woody forest trails, amazing Galtee mountain views.
GLENANAAR WOOD – ARDPATRICK/13KM
Canon Sheen Loop – 7km easy, low land walk. Family friendly (not buggy). Way marked trail, forest roads and woody forest trails, gorgeous river section. Also possible to make route shorter (4km forest section and double back to car park)
CASTLEGALE LOOP – MITCHELSTOWN12KM/KILFINANE6KM
Park at Darragh Bridge. 7km moderate walk, follow the way marked trail. Forestry roadway, forest trails, broadleaf woodland. Wonderful countryside views.
BALLINABOOLA WOODS – ARDPATRICK (4KM) CHARLEVILLE (10KM)
Knockduv Loop – 5KM Moderate walk, forest roads and tracks. Fun walk; watch out for cyclists as this crosses a mountain biking section (well signposted)
