GREAT STONE CIRCLE, GRANGE
Consisting of 113 standing stones, the stone circle is one of the most impressive in Ireland. Excavation identified it as a ritual site for the Bronze Age peoples of Lough Gur and surrounding areas. It was constructed over 4,000 years ago. The Largent stone “Rannach Chroim Duibh” weighs over 40 tonnes. Pottery schards from the Late Stone Age and Bronze Age were discovered there.
